STAR Nova is an after-school enrichment program offering S.T.E.A.M. classes in science, engineering, robotics, coding, and math, often using advanced technologies like drones, VR, and 3D printers. 2. After School Cornucopia

Afterschool Cornucopia offers 1‐hour classes once a week, right after school, on campus at Linwood Howe, El Rincon, and El Marino. They offer programming for every child, from sports, to arts and crafts, to music lessons.

Here are some (but not all) of their incredible offerings: Astronaut Science, Basketball, Bento Cooking, Breakdancing, Chess, Comic Book Creators, Drawing & Watercolor, Dungeons & Dragons, Engineering with Legos, Filmmaking, Golf, Hip-Hop/Jazz, Improv & Theater Games, Japanese Homework Support, Kitchen Science, Math Magic, Money Management, Parkour, Piano/Keyboard, Pokemon, Crochet & Fiber Arts, Soccer, Spanish for Beginners, Stop Motion Animation, Track & Field, Ukulele/Guitar, Zoology.

  • Age Range: Grades K – 5 (depending on the activity)
  • Hours: 3:25 to 4:25pm (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri) and 2 to 3 pm or 3 to 4 pm (Wed)

3. Tennis for Kids at Fox Hill

Offered once a week for a one hour class, the beginner program introduces children to the game of tennis through a variety of fun, skill building activities. The class follows the USTA Orange Ball 1, 2 and 3 Curriculum and prepares children for competitive play.

4. LA’s BEST

LA’s Best is dedicated to offering a secure and well-supervised after-school program focused on education and recreation for children in Los Angeles. Kids benefit from nutritious meals, homework assistance, and a diverse selection of enrichment activities to support their growth and development.

  • Hours: School dismissal until 6:00 pm

5. Beyond the Bell

The Beyond the Bell programs provide students with expanded learning opportunities in safe, supportive environments that offer high-quality academic, enrichment, and recreational activities. The Music and Entertainment Education program introduces students in grades 3-8 to music theory and musicianship, allowing them to learn instruments such as flute, clarinet, trumpet, violin, and percussion, while advanced students can explore additional options like saxophone, trombone, and double bass. Additionally, the Outdoor and Environmental Education (OEE) Program offers K-12 students immersive science experiences through hands-on, outdoor learning at various educational centers, supporting classroom instruction and promoting environmental stewardship.
